Though ignorance is not an excuse, in a country like India I doubt that there are many people of African descent and therefore no real need for awareness of it. Yes, I'm sure that some people in the crowd knew exactly what they were doing and then a number followed like sheep (it happens, go to any sporting match) but I doubt those people gave it much thought. There is enough anecdotal evidence to point to the fact that a majority of Indians were unaware of the link between monkey chants and racism when it first happened. If you stoop to their level then surely you're no better than they are? There's so much more wrong with the show than that.Is there any point in tit for tat though? All that is going to happen is that the incident will escalate and cause even bad feeling, not only amongst the players but the fans as well.
This makes it extra frustrating to have it be criticized mostly for the casting choices of women of color. But you all chose to complain about the black women and the Indian woman (Triss, Vigo and Yennifer).
Case in point, literally none of the characters in the witcher look like the ones they play from the game. Finding someone who actually looks like what the video game character looks like is near impossible. Triss is a love interest so of course they made her absolutely gorgeous in the game.
They are drawn, designed and tweaked in order to look the best they can for their role in the game.
